Days 24-29: Reims

May 7-12, 2019

It was during this stretch I made the decision that it was more important for me to be completely healed so I could walk across the Alps with M in a couple weeks, than to try and piece together a route walking what days I could to Besançon. Part of an adventure is changing plans in response to contingency, so I embraced the adventure of it all and cancelled all my lodging from Reims through Besançon (where I was meeting M on the 27th of May).

Luckily, pretty much all of my lodging was refundable, and since I used gift cards, it was all immediately available. I spent the morning charting out the next weeks.

I decided I’d stay a bit longer in Reims because it’s such a nice city and I haven’t been able to walk much, then go say hi to Paris since it had been a while since I was last there and then from Paris, take train to Dijon because I’d never been and it was on the way to Besançon. So, it was set: I’d stay in Reims until the 17th, go visit Paris for a weekend, stay a week in Dijon, and then take the train to Besançon to get back on schedule (and hope that I was healed enough by then to keep walking). It seemed like a win-win scenario.
